Lighting Design for a Renovated Brick House with a Modern Extension

Our task in this project was to design the lighting for a renovated brick house with a modern extension, where white surfaces are combined with natural materials. The client’s requirement was modern, minimalist and timeless lighting based on continuous light lines. The aim was therefore to create lighting that fulfils its function while preserving the clean, simple character of the interior. At the initial meeting, we defined the design goals and the form of the lighting. The overall material budget was set at a maximum of €6,000. After the first design was submitted, the details were refined.
Primary lighting
To meet the client’s requirements, we selected LED strips installed in aluminium profiles mounted in the plasterboard structure. Several factors influenced the choice of LED strips, primarily the installation location and the required functionality. This type of lighting was used in the daytime areas of the house – the living room, kitchen and hallway.
Indirect lighting
In the night-time areas of the house, as well as to complement the living room, we designed indirect lighting using LED strips installed in corner aluminium profiles positioned along the ceiling edge. They can be used together with the main lighting for greater light intensity, or independently to create a pleasant, intimate atmosphere.
Entrance hall
Another area included in the lighting design was the entrance hall with its striking brick wall. In addition to the LED light lines that continue towards the living room, we designed spot lighting to highlight the brick-wall feature and create a welcoming impression immediately upon entering the house.
Bathroom and guest toilet
In addition to the main areas of the house, we also designed LED strip lighting for the bathroom and guest toilet.
