Lighting is the finishing touch to it all.
About this project
A familiar space transformed into MIESTO
The owner had a connection to this space long before it took on its current form. When the opportunity arose to take it over and create something new, he decided to make it happen.
The concept was not created on paper overnight. Ideas evolved gradually, while the materials, layout and lighting were developed together with the electrician.
In the end, light became one of the key elements visually tying the entire interior together.
Light as the final layer of the interior
Good lighting does not have to be merely a technical necessity. At MIESTO, that is clear from the first glance.
The light lines follow the clean architecture, timber surfaces and natural tones of the interior. During the day, they remain a natural part of the space. After dark, their role changes.
The light begins to shape the interior more strongly, accentuating its lines and creating an atmosphere that furnishings alone could never achieve.
That is also why the owner admits that he likes the space best in the evening.
COLORS NNR40: when the light source becomes a design object
The most distinctive lighting feature at MIESTO is the COLORS Magic 360 NNR40 – a flexible LED NeonFlex with a circular cross-section and uniform 360° light emission.
Unlike a conventional LED strip hidden inside a profile, this is not a light source that needs to be concealed. Quite the opposite: the illuminated line itself becomes part of the design.
With its 40 mm diameter, the NNR40 has enough visual presence even in a larger space while allowing smooth curves and organic shapes to be created without a conventional diffuser or luminaire body.
MIESTO uses the RGBW version, combining coloured RGB light with a dedicated white channel. During normal operation, the lighting can therefore provide white light and, whenever required, transform the atmosphere with colour.
A few millimetres made a difference
With such a prominent lighting element, output and light colour are not the only factors that matter. The proportion of the luminaire in relation to the space is equally important.
The diameter of the NeonFlex was one detail the owner was unsure about. Together with the electrician, he therefore visited the LEDCO showroom to compare the available options in person.
The final choice was the NNR40 with a 40 mm diameter.
The result shows it was the right decision. The light line has enough presence to become a defining feature, yet it does not disrupt the clean character of the interior.
The lighting comes into its own after dark
MIESTO shows that in a well-designed interior, lighting does not have to be merely the final technical item before a project is completed.
It can become the element around which the character of the entire space is built.
During the day, the NNR40 reads as a bold graphic line. In the evening, it becomes a luminous design object that changes the mood of the space and brings out the details, materials and architecture.
That is when the owner’s words make perfect sense:
Lighting is the finishing touch to it all.
